Is it Really the End?
Many believe that a number of "signs" have to take place before the end comes (as warned throughout the Bible), which is God's wrath on the nations of the world which is expected to last seven years; unfortunately these people are not familiar with the Bible because there is no "event" that has to take place before God's wrath begins -- other than the 'rapture of the church'.
In Matthew 24, Jesus said the only "sign" that would take place would be earthquakes and storms in various places, like labor pains on a pregnant woman about to give birth.
Jesus did say that when we see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that it's desolation is near. Right now, with the nation of Iran and other Islamic forces sworn to the destruction of Israel, it would seem that the "abomination of desolation" is very near. According to Jesus in Matthew 24, this is a sign that we are in the end times. Half-way into the Tribulation (Time of Wrath, as called in Daniel) the Anti-Christ will break a peace covenant and seize Jerusalem, and set himself up in the temple, and proclaim that he is God (which fulfills the "abomination of desolation" prophecy). Daniel wrote that he would then be destroyed, "but not by human hands". Shortly after Jesus Christ will appear in the skies over the earth with the armies of heaven, in "power and great glory". Christ then destroys the last two remaining armies and takes full control of the earth.
Today, in Bible prophecy, the rapture of the church is the next thing that's going to happen. That is the "blessed hope" Christians around the world are waiting for and have been promised in the Bible.
